Becoming a Change Agent

Becoming a Change Agent

13th April 2015
“It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” ~ Alan Cohen

Ultimately, change is a choice we either embrace or have thrust upon us, but either way change is inevitable in all our lives.

In his audio program, Thinking Big, Brian Tracy this calls the tendency to resist change “Homeostasis”, and it can be one of the biggest challenges we face when we set new goals for ourselves which require us to push out of our comfort zone and to stretch ourselves beyond our normal limits.

Homeostasis keeps us looking inwards on ourselves, repeating the same habits, and ultimately this drains us of energy and saps our motivation and passion for life.

But when we focus our attention on positive change, innovation, growth, improvement, education, adventure and discovery, we energise and enrich ourselves. We create a momentum, a powerful force that drives us and lifts us to new levels.

The short but thought provoking video clip on “Change” in the left hand sidebar explores how both individuals and organisations can better learn to accept and embrace "change" in their lives, and provides a powerful and uplifting message to share with your students
